Happy #GivingTuesday! This holiday is the perfect time to highlight an integral pillar of our mission: to make a difference. At DLS, we prioritize volunteering time and donating money to organizations that are close to our staff and community.
#GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of radical generosity. GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
So, what does this have to do with us at DLS? The Diplomatic Language Services 1-1-1 Philanthropy Plan is a significant demonstration of DLS’s core values and business culture. In 2017, we formalized our charitable giving with the adoption of Salesforce’s 1-1-1 model. As a result, we committ 1% of equity, 1 % of employee time, and 1% of product to integrate philanthropic efforts into our business.
This GivingTuesday and holiday season, after much thought, we decided to repurpose our employee gifts, and donate in their names, to a charity that makes a positive impact. As an organization that values employees’ input, our community voted on which charity we’ll make this special additional donation to. We gave a range of choices, from immigrant rights and food security to environmental protection and racial injustice. We are certainly looking forward to sharing which charity we donate to in our yearly DLS Philanthropy blog post!
