Interpretation Skills Training
DLS provides specialized interpretation skills training for experienced linguists at ILR Level 3 and above. Our courses strengthen the practical techniques interpreters need to listen, analyze, retain, and accurately convey meaning in professional settings. Training is conducted in English and led by expert facilitators with extensive field experience, with language-specific practice sessions supported by qualified linguists.
Courses focus on consecutive interpretation skills including note-taking, memory development, message reformulation, delivery techniques, and guided interpretation exercises tailored to participants’ target languages and mission requirements.
DLS offers onsite and virtual delivery and can support multilingual cohorts within a single program. We customize each course to the client’s objectives, participant proficiency levels, operational context, and desired outcomes.
One of our Intelligence Community clients requested language-agnostic interpretation skills training for experienced linguists.
DLS delivered the first course within two months and subsequently conducted seven additional iterations, including language-specific practice sessions in Arabic, Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, and Tagalog.
Each three-day course served an average of 11 students, for a total of 101 participants. Core instruction was delivered in English, with breakout sessions conducted in participants’ target languages to provide practical interpretation experience.
