DLS Philanthropy Model: Our Plan for 2018

Giving back to the community has always been a core DLS principle. Each year we strive to improve upon last year’s outreach and find new ways to contribute in the DC metro area. We take great pride in volunteering our time, donating money, and participating in community events.

The 1-1-1 Philanthropic Model

Last year, we adopted Salesforce’s 1-1-1 philanthropic model, which includes a commitment to donate 1% of equity, 1% of product, and 1% of employee time to volunteer efforts and charities. We met the equity portion of our goal, and look forward to the challenge of reaching the rest of our goals in the new year, and in the years that follow. By contributing to the community, we contribute to our future.

Last Year’s Events

In 2017, these contributions included participating in Adopt-a-Highway, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Washington, DC, and the annual Walk at Lunch event. We also donated more than 1% of DLS’s equity to the following organizations:

  • Blue Ridge Area Food Bank
  • City Dogs Rescue
  • Global Center for Refugee Education and Science
  • International Rescue Committee
  • Lifting Hands International
  • St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
  • United We Dream
  • US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants
  • Wolf Trap Animal Rescue
  • Word Dance Theatre

Upcoming Opportunities

2018 has brought its own set of unique and exciting opportunities to give back. DLS is proud to announce two new initiatives this year that take advantage of the unique skills we possess:

Upwardly Global – helping immigrants and refugees succeed
Literacy Council – providing literacy services to children and adults

We are also looking forward to the following returning events:
