Last week, we hosted our DLS Eid al-Fitr celebration! This school-wide cultural event highlighted Eid al-Fitr and gave our community the opportunity to enjoy and learn about the holiday.
Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan. Muslims from all over the world celebrate by breaking the fast with a big meal, spending time exchanging gifts, and visiting friends and family.
All who attended enjoyed a large spread of authentic Afghan cuisine. While enjoying the cultural dishes, attendees learned how different cultures celebrate Eid by visiting cultural tables. At each table, students and instructors dressed in traditional attire meticulously decorated and represented various Eid celebrations.
Attendees were certainly engaged throughout the duration of this exciting event. The celebration included musical and instrumental performances, as well as informational presentations by students and instructors. Once the performances ended, everyone enjoyed the highly-anticipated egg cracking game followed by henna!
Thank you all to the language groups who participated to make the DLS Eid-al Fitr event another great celebration! We hope everyone who joined us had a great time and learned something about Eid.
