On Mother’s Day weekend, the dedicated team at Diplomatic Language Services (DLS) participated in the 25th annual Komen Global Race for the Cure in Washington, DC. This marked our third year of involvement! Through a bake sale and online donations, we raised $1,674.80 to support breast cancer research and awareness.
The Event
The Komen Race for the Cure is a vital global movement that attracts thousands to advocate for breast cancer survivors and honor those lost to the disease. Team DLS, adorned in pink, joined the enthusiastic crowd to walk, run, and cheer, demonstrating our commitment to this important cause.
Team DLS’s Participation
Beginning the day with vigor despite the humidity, our team’s participation symbolized a growing tradition of community and dedication at DLS. Employees, alongside friends and family, showcased an incredible spirit of camaraderie and support.
Fundraising Efforts
Our fundraising was bolstered by a pre-race bake sale, which united DLS employees and drew significant community support. Online donations further complemented our efforts, allowing those unable to attend to contribute to our mission.
The Impact
The funds raised directly support the Susan G. Komen Foundation’s initiatives to fund research and community health programs to combat breast cancer. The enthusiasm and generosity of our team and supporters emphasize the profound impact collective actions can have on such a critical health issue.
Reflections from Participants
Despite challenging weather conditions, the resolve of Team DLS remained strong. Many shared personal stories highlighting the cause’s importance, driving home the need for continued support and engagement.
This year’s participation in the Komen Race has reaffirmed DLS’s role as more than just a workplace but a community passionate about making a difference. The event was a testament to our commitment and a powerful reminder of what we can achieve together.
