Our Purpose at DLS is now more important and valuable than ever: We make the world better when we understand each other.
I have always believed that the purpose of a business is to make the world better. And, while we can’t force the world to be better, we can do our part by making our business better. We accomplish this is by making ourselves better and encouraging and supporting our colleagues to grow.
The anxiety caused by outside events can feel overwhelming and distracting. In order to regain peace in your life, it is best to focus on what you CAN do, with what you have, where you are, instead of focusing on what is outside of your control.
While political seasons come and go, we will remember who we are, why we exist, and who we serve. To encourage this adjustment, I would remind you about Gandhi’s invitation to “be the change you wish to see in the world”. We can show everyone how we want the world to look, by acting on our values every single day of our lives.
First and foremost, honesty and respect for all, irrespective of religion, background and sexual orientation. Also, integral to DLS – celebrating and learning from diversity, and appreciation for the contribution of people coming here from other countries. And the list goes on.
Please join me in reaffirming the importance of these values. And of the work it takes to live by them every day, and serve as an example for others around us. We have plenty of work ahead of us, and I am excited to be doing it together.
