As we all know, vocabulary building is essential for developing language fluency. Little by little, through repeated exposure to new words, students learn vocabulary and phrases in their target language and begin putting them together to express themselves. Quizlet is a familiar tool to many instructors and students; its digital flashcard platform is an ideal partner in vocabulary acquisition. Learn more or create an account at https://quizlet.com/.

Tips for Using Quizlet AI for Language Study
- As a language instructor, here are some ways to leverage Quizlet’s AI features. Vocabulary study is a great option for semi-autonomous or homework assignments, since reviewing new words at one’s own pace is a solo endeavor.
- Tell students to create a set of flashcards for each new textbook chapter. The process of entering vocabulary and/or reviewing the words will prompt them to review the new information.
- Have students practice certain vocabulary by conversing about a particular topic with Qchat. You could assign a goal of 10 minutes per day.
- Invite students to play Quizlet’s matching game and try to beat their own time. In a group class, you could make it competitive to see who can get the best time.
- Guide students to upload their class notes to Quizlet’s Magic Notes and have the tool transform the content into flashcards.
- Have students self-assess their learning by quizzing themselves with flashcards and creating practice tests for their flashcard sets.
- Extend learning by planning class activities that use vocabulary students have recently studied through Quizlet. This could happen during warm-up or right after a break. Exposing students to new words repeatedly is key to language acquisition and a normal part of the learning process.
